Sam Claflin And Eddie Redmayne Among Others Testing For Harry In AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

HeatVision reports that four new actors are testing for Sony and director Marc Webb for the role of Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. They include Sam Claflin (Pirates 4, Catching Fire, Snow White And The Huntsman), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Douglas Booth (Noah) and Boyd Holbrook (The Host). Dane DeHaan, Alden Ehrenreich and Brady Corbet had previously linked for the part. Dane and Douglas were recently spotted (via CBM) alongside Andrew Garfield at Webb’s home. I have to assume because of his following thanks in part to his Hunger Games: Catching Fire role Claflin could be the most likely to get the part.

Dane DeHaan And Alden Ehrenreich Could Play Harry In AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

HeatVision reports that Sony and director Marc Webb are looking to cast another classic supporting role for Amazing Spider-Man 2. They say that Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, Lawless), Brady Corbet and Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures) are being looked at for the part of Harry Osborn. This news would confirm that Norman might actually be shown on screen in the sequel.

Funny fact is that Alden and Dane had both tested for role of Tetsuo for Warner Bros. Akira. It gives the impression that Harry could end up a stronger villain than previously seen in Spider-Man 3. Previously, the studio hired Shailene Woodley for the role of Mary Jane Watson which Webb recently confirmed. While I think Dane has the better resume, Alden has the look down solid. Jamie Foxx is currently in talks to take the role of villain Electro (Damian Lewis also considered).

Wettest County Gets Pushed Back To August

Variety reports the prohibition era gangster flick The Wettest County In The World was originally set for April 20th but has now been pushed back to August 31st. The impressive cast includes Jason Clarke, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Shia LeBeouf, Mia Wasikowska, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Noah Taylor and Dane DeHaan. Based on Matt Boundurant’s novel which tells the true story of three bootlegging brothers. The novel was turned into a screenplay by musician Nick Cave who will also score the film.

Warner Bros. Can’t Decide On Akira’s Second Lead Actor

Deadline reports another reason Warner Bros. has put Akira on hold is that they can’t figure out who should play Tetsuo and the actors are free to walk from the project if they want to. The two actors in question are Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire, The Dreamers) and Dane DeHaan (In Treatment, True Blood, Chronicle) their testing options have expired so they are currently free to go after other projects.

The character is basically the meatiest role of the picture as Tetsuo goes from nerdy gangland biker to a psychotic villain with overwhelming superpowers. Yet, I’m unsure what bastardized version of Tetsuo we’ll end up seeing in the film since Kaneda is now a bartender/bar owner instead of a punk biker. Out of the two I have to go with Pitt as he’s been wonderful on the first two seasons of Boardwalk Empire. However, Dane DeHaan’s upcoming superpower film Chronicle is gathering a lot of buzz.
