Logan Marshall-Green Joins Ridley Scott’s Prometheus

Deadline reports that yet another actor has joined Ridely Scott’s science fiction thriller Prometheus. It’s Logan Marshall-Green the first American actor cast in the film. The up and coming actor is best known for his television work but played a rookie cop in the fantastic cop thriller Brooklyn’s Finest. He will play Holloway a crew member  and love interest to Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace). This could be the role that Scoot McNairy (Monsters) had been linked to previously before joining Cogan’s Trade.

The film boats a stellar casting mix that includes Noomi Rapace (Dragon Tattoo, Sherlock Holmes 2), Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, 300, X-Men First Class), Charlize Theron, Idris Elba (Thor, The Wire, RockNRolla), Rafe Spall (Green Street Hooligans, A Good Year, Hot Fuzz), Sean Harris (Harry Brown, Red Riding Trilogy) and Kate Dickie with a release date set for June 8th 2012.

Rafe Spall Joins Ridley Scott’s Prometheus

ThePlaylist reports British actor Rafe Spall has joined Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. Spall is best known for his roles in Hot Fuzz, Shaun of The Dead and Green Street Hooligans but has a lot of theater work behind as well. He also has worked with Ridley before on his amazing romantic comedy A Good Year alongside Russell Crowe. Rafe joins a stellar cast that includes Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie. The science fiction thriller is set to hit theaters on June 8th 2012.

George Miller Confirms Mad Max: Fury Road Starts Shooting Next January

Director George Miller has reached out to the DailyTelegraph giving an update on Mad Max: Fury Road. The sequel/reboot of his successful Mad Max franchise which he directed the previous three films with Mel Gibson in the lead role.

Tom Hardy will star as the new Max along with Charlize Theron, Patrick Stewart (X-Men 1-3) , Nicholas Hoult (Jack The Giant Killer, X-Men First Class), Teressa Palmer, Zoe Kravitz (X-Men First Class) and Adelaide Clemens.

“We will restart pre-production later this year and begin early next year—weather permitting,” Miller said acknowledging the year-long delay he and Warner Bros. had agreed on. “We’ve built the vehicles. We’ve designed the movie. The principal cast is locked in. The film is funded. It’s all ready to go. We just wait,”

Possible Concept Art From Ridley Scott’s Prometheus?

LatinoReview claims the following concept art could be from Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. They somewhat look familiar as something that we could have seen in the world that Ridley and James Cameron created. It’s not impossible as some of the early concept art from Avatar did leak online before.

Scoot McNairy Might Join Ridley Scott’s Prometheus & Other Big Parts

Deadline reports Scoot McNairy the star of the sleeper hit Monsters is up for a role in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. This won’t be the only big part he’s up for as he just joined Cogan’s Trade and is in talks for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I’d personally rather see Scott take part in Prometheus as I feel he would make a great addition to the cast. The science fiction thriller set in the same universe as the original Alien film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron.

Charlize Theron Joins Ridley Scott’s Prometheus

HollywoodReporter confirms that Charlize Theron is now in final talks to take a role in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. Theron who joins Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender is cast in an unknown role. It’s possible that it could be crew member Vickers. Michael Fassbender also confirmed to MTV that the film indeed is an Alien film and is set in the same universe. It’s expected that the rest of casting should begin as most of the main roles have been filled.

RUMOR: Xenomorphs & Space Jockey Are In Prometheus

Recently 20th Century Fox announced that Ridley Scott’s Prometheus was going to be set in the Alien universe but won’t be the prequel they originally planned. We all assumed that the Xenomorphs (aliens) and the Space Jockey would be axed from the film. Now there is word from Sky (via HeyUGuys) that the sets being currently built at Pinewood Studios recreates the original Space Jockey set from Alien. They also allude to the quote from the press release that referred to “Alien DNA” being literal. The original thought the DNA talk meant it would use elements from the film but not the actual alien. Of course this could turn out to be false but it sounds promising if true.

“They’ve built the ‘space jockey’ cockpit at Pinewood as seen in the original Alien film, so it definitely takes place in the same world as Alien”

“Despite that press release that seemed to indicate there were no aliens in the movie, the familiar HR Giger-style aliens do appear. Big ones apparently.”

“Part of the film will be shot in Morocco. I’ve heard that some sort of archaeological dig where they discover alien DNA takes place there and that DNA gives them the coordinates for an alien world. I’ve also heard Morocco is being used for alien planet landscapes so I’m not sure if it’s an archaeological dig on another planet.”

Emily Browning In The Running For Snow White

HeatVision reports that Australian actress Emily Browning has tested for the role of Snow White last week. Unlike the rumor of Kristen Stewart, testing for the role means there is a possibility of landing the part in Snow White & The Huntsman. Browning is about to blowup with her film Sucker Punch looking to be a massive blockbuster for the young actress. Emily is perfect for this type of role as the fantasy action theme is very similar to Sucker Punch.

RUMOR: Kristen Stewart To Play Snow White?

Deadline is reporting on a rumor that could see Twilight’s Kristen Stewart in the lead role of Snow White & The Huntsman. It would be a safe bet for Universal since Stewart has a young loyal following. The only thing is that I doubt she would be able to carry a film like this on her own. Even worse she’d be sharing scenes with heavy weights like Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron.

It was mentioned that Universal could also be looking at both big names and unknowns for the role. The list of lesser known actresses in the running include Felicity Jones (The Tempest, Cemetery Junction), Riley Keough, Bella Heathcoat (Cogan’s Trade, Now) and Alicia Vikander. I’d personally rather see Felicity Jones in the role mainly because she would put more effort into the film and could build a name from it. For Kristen, it would be just a payday between the next emotionless performance.

Viggo Mortensen In Talks For Snow White & The Huntsman

Variety reports that Viggo Mortensen is in talks to star in Universal’s Snow White & The Huntsman. The role of the Huntsman has seen some interest from the likes of Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender and Johnny Depp.

Charlize Theron is likely to take the role of the evil Queen but Snow White has yet to be cast. Previously a list of lesser known hopefuls was released which included names like Felicity Jones (The Tempest, Cemetery Junction), Riley Keough, Bella Heathcoat (Cogan’s Trade, Now) and Alicia Vikander. This more than likely takes Viggo out of the running for the lead in Ron Howard’s Dark Tower.

Michael Fassbender Joins Prometheus Coming June 8th 2012

HeatVision reports that Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, X-Men First Class) has been officially cast in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. This the second actor cast in the secret sci-fi film after Noomi Rapace. There is still talk that Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie are the two candidates for the role of Vickers. Fassbender is playing an android in the film which had been previously named David. It’s unknown if the character has gone through changes since the Alien prequel was scrapped. The film’s release date has moved from March 9th 2012 to June 8th 2012. Likely to avoid Disney’s release of John Carter of Mars.

Noomi Rapace Cast In Ridley Scott’s Prometheus Coming May 9th 2012

Deadline reports that Fox and Ridley Scott have cast Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus which is set for release on March 9th 2012.  The project was originally set to be a prequel to Alien but has become an original project. Ridley hasn’t made an original science fiction project since the greatest film of the genre Bladerunner. While story elements are unknown Ridley states there will be familiar Alien DNA and promises a grand mythology/universe. I gather he means it will be a science fiction horror film and could likely involve aliens just not the Xenomorph.

Rapace had been championed by Ridley while Fox had their doubts but it looks like the director has got his way. Interesting enough is their new announcement that Angelina Jolie is going up against Charlize Theron for the role of Vickers. I’m curious to see who comes on top either way it should be enough for Fox to fit the bill for rather expensive production’s budget. While I’m worried about Jolie’s abilities, with Ridley in charge I have faith it could be amazing none the less. The only other name not mentioned is Michael Fassbender who had been linked for the role of the ship’s android David.

To be honest this new information gives me the relief that our love for Alien won’t be tarnished by a possible bad prequel. Now there is hope that we’ll have yet another epically scaled science fiction classic from Ridley. I’m fully on board with this and will be following this closely and will post non-spoilers plot details when they surface.

Charlize Theron Joining Alien Prequel?

While casting and auditions should be underway for Ridley Scott’s Alien Prequel nothing official has been announced. We know that Ridley’s choice for the lead role of Elizabeth Shaw is Noomi Rapace but Fox doesn’t seem sold yet. Michael Fassbender (X-Men First Class, Inglourious Basterds) is up for the role of David an early version of the Bishop android. Ridley wanted Michelle Yeoh in the role of Vikers but Vulture is reporting the studio is looking at Charlize Theron instead. Fox is going as far as rewriting the role to make it larger, I expect to attract Theron to commit to the film/films. Charlize just dropped out of Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar Hover bio-pic which could allow her to make the movies.

I believe having Theron in the cast would help the studio agree to hire Noomi. Having two excellent award caliber actresses could reel in more big names to round out the cast. I think Michelle Yeoh is a great actress but has already played a similar role in Danny Boyle’s Sunshine.

Felicity Jones Testing For Snow White & The Huntsman

Deadline reported today that Charlize Theron is still pursuing the role of the evil Queen in Rupert Sanders’ Snow White & The Huntsman. They also mention Michael Fassbender is now up for the role of the Huntsman which had been rumored for Johnny Depp and Tom Hardy.

HeatVision adds to the story by releasing Universal’s shortlist of actresses they’ll be testing for the lead role of Snow White. The group includes mostly unknowns like Riley Keough, Bella Heathcoat and Alicia Vikander. Felicity Jones is best known actress on the list who has starred in The Tempest and Cemetery Junction. Jones is my favorite of the bunch and this could be her breakout performance.

This is director Rupert Sanders’ debut film and is mostly known for his commercial work. Which includes the impressive live-action trailer for Halo ODST. He also made a short film entitled Black Hole which I assume is based on the comic book by Charles Burns.

Depp & Theron Offered Roles In Snow White & The Huntsman?

Snow White & The Huntsman is becoming very interesting with it’s current casting talk. TheWrap reports Universal has offered the Huntsman role to Johnny Depp. Tom Hardy has also been linked to the role yet could be too busy to take on the project. I’m sure Universal is trying to capture some of the magic and success from Depp’s Alice In Wonderland. The studio has also announced the film’s release date which is now set for December 21st 2012. ThePlaylist reports that Charlize Theron could be cast in the role of the evil queen Ravenna.

Lady Vengeance (US Remake)

Charlize Theron is “Lady Vengeance”

“According to a recent interview with The Boston Globe , Charlize plans to produce and star in a remake of Korean director Park Chan-Wook’s SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE. This is the first I’ve heard about this repeated creature of lethal grace, but if there’s any truth to it, I suppose it will make the trades in short order.

The gorgeous and unsettling original movie (released in the US as just LADY VENGEANCE) is the devastating denouement to Park’s thematically linked “revenge trilogy,” following the shattering SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE and the savage OLDBOY. The story revolves around a beautiful woman wrongly imprisoned for the murder of a child and her subsequent complex plans for retribution. “
